Hue Phu Bai Airport resumes operations on 14-June-2011 as planned. The airport was closed one month from 13-May-2011 to 13-June-2011 for repair. Repair was completed as planned. Air travellers to Hue had to go to and from Da Nang Airport earlier. Vietnam Airlines resumes its 4 daily flights between Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and Hue and 3 daily flights between Hanoi and Hue. jetstar Pacific resumes its 2 daily flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hue.

From 16-June-2011, Vietnam Airlines starts direct flights between Hanoi (Vietnam) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). On 3-June-2011, the airline company hosted a ceremony in co-operation with Vietnam-based travel agencies for promoting the direct flights between the two cities. Currently, air travellers between Hanoi and Kuala Lumpur have to transit via Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). All flights will be with Airbus A321 which could carry 168 passengers per flight.
The opening of direct flights between Hanoi and Malaysia is in the strategy of Vietnam's national flag carrier to expand the network into different cities in South East Asia. The direct flight also helps Vietnam Airlines to facilitate the air travellers in connecting the flights to Europe and the North East of Asia. The direct flight makes it convenient for the travellers from Hanoi to Kuala Lumpur and from Malaysia to northern Vietnam. Currently, more travellers from Malaysia would choose to travel to southern Vietnam instead of northern part of the country because of flight availability.

The national flag carrier of Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines, opens direct flights between Hanoi and Kaohsiung (Taiwan) starting from 17-June-2011. At first, the airlines is planning 3 flights per week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday with Airbus 321 aircrafts. The flight from Hanoi departs at 18:30 and from Kaohsiung at 07:30 A.M local time. The duration of flight is 2 hours 30 minutes. Kaohsiung is a second biggest city of Taiwan, located in southwestern area of the country.

On 26-May-2011, the Stone Steles of the Temple of Literature in Hanoi Vietnam, which are records of Royal Examinations of the Le and Mac Dynasties (1442-1779), were inscribed to the Memory of the World Register by the UNESCO. The 82 stone steles record names of the laureates of Royal Examinations of Le and Mac Dynasties were erected between 1484 and 1780 to commemorate the Royal Examinations held between 1442 and 1779.

According to Vietnam Airlines, the national flag carrier of Vietnam is to increase direct flights from Hanoi to different South East Asian Countries. From 16-June-2011, the air firm is to open daily directly flights between Hanoi and Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia, so that there are 21 direct flights per week from Vietnam to Malaysia (1 daily from Hanoi and 2 daily flights from Ho Chi Minh City).

According to Vietnam Railways Corporation, the company is running the trains SE7 and SE8 again from 20-May-2011 to meet the surging demand of Vietnamese travellers for holiday travel and of Vietnamese students for the entrance exams. Train SE8 departs from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) at 06:25 A.M and arrives at Hanoi at 15:28 the next day; Train SE7 departs Hanoi at 06:15 A.M and arrives at Ho Chi Minh City at 15:05 the next day.

Because of increasing demand from the Vietnamese tourist to travel to Con Dao Island in southern Vietnam, local air carriers are increasing flights to the island starting from the summer of 2011.
Con Dao island - Vietnam
According to VASCO, a subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines, the air firm are starting flights between Can Tho City (in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam) and Con Dao Island on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday starting from 1-June-2011. Currently, VASCO is having 21-24 flights/week between Ho Chi Minh City and Con Dao Island. The air firm may increase to 28 flights/week in the summer of 2011. All flights with VASCO are with ATR72-500.
With the approval of the new bases of ceiling airfares by the Aviation Authority of Vietnam which started coming into effect from 27-April-2011, all air carriers in the country have got plans for increasing the airfares accordingly. Jetstar Pacific và Air Mekong started applying the new airfare bases from 7-May-2011; and Vietnam Airlines, the biggest airline in Vietnam which accounts for about 70% of the market share, starts increasing airfares from 16-May-2011. The newly approved ceiling airfares increase from 20-23% compared to the earlier bases.

Vietnam Railways Corporation is to increase train tickets for air-conditioned carriages by 7% during the period the period from 25-May-2011 to 15-August-2011. Tickets for carriages without air-conditioning remain unchanged. After 15-August-2011, all train tickets will be the same to that before 25-May-2011. During this period, passengers from 65 years of age and older are to enjoy 20% discount instead of 10% as the current one.

Air Mekong, a newly established private air carrier in Vietnam, starts flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Quy Nhon Beach City of Binh Dinh Province from 1-June-2011. Tickets for these flights are to be available on the firm's website and via air ticket agents from 15-May-2011, disclosed by the airline's spokeman. There are daily flights between Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh Province). From Ho Chi Minh City Tan Son Nhat Airport, the flight departs at 08:15 A.M and arrives at Phu Cat Airport of Quy Nhon City at 09:15 A.M. The return flight from Quy Nhon departs at 10:15 A.M and arrives at Tan Son Nhat Airport at 11:15 A.M. Air Mekong uses Bombardier CRJ 900 aircrafts for all its flights.

According to Jetstar Pacific, the airline is to re-open flights between Hanoi and Nha Trang from 24-May-2011. The air carrier had to suspend flights between these 2 cities due to inefficiency nine months ago.The airline is planning two flights per day to accommodate surging demands for domestic travel in Vietnam during the summer months. Tickets for these flights have been open since 6-May-2011 on the company's website.

The area of 1.3million hectares including two nature reserves (Pu Hoat and Pu Huong) and one national park (Pu Mat) to the west of Nghe An Province of Vietnam (in the districts of Con Cuong, Anh Son, Tuong Duong, Que Phong, Quy Chau, Quy Hop, Thanh Chuong and Tan Ky) was listed as a Global Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO on 29th, April 2011. The Global Biosphere Reserve is located in the temperate and tropical climatic zone. Because of the high mountains of the Truong Son Range that influences the circulation of the air, there are big different climatic zones formed in the area.
