Travel Guide to Bho Hoong Village, Quang Nam
Most villagers keep on to the traditional occupations of bamboo weaving and brocade weaving. The Ko Tu People live in houses on stilts. Ko Tu’s Traditional communal house is called Nha Guoil for each village and Nha Moong for each family. Only rich families have Nha Moong but most villages have nha Guol.
Nha Guol
The Nha Guol is where the village communal activities are hosted: new rice ceremonies, village festivals… Nha Guol architecture and sculptures show a lot about the Ko Tu culture as well as their daily life. There is one big pillar in the middle and there are eight smaller pillars around the main one to support the roof of Nha Guol (Chong Guol).
At a village the Nha Guol is in the middle and familial houses surround it creating an oval shape. The roof of Nha Guol made of leaves from local palm trees and the roof is supported by a wooden frame.
Nha Moong
Nha Moong does not have a big pillar in the middle but there are 16 pillars around the house. The Moong normally is built in front of a familial house. Nha Mong is where the household meets with guests, where boys and girls have date, where people rest on official occasions like wedding, funerals...
The village is located by the side of the Kon River. To access the village, the visitors have to cross a suspension bridge.
