The Cam Son Reservoir is in Luc Ngan District of Bac Giang Province. The reservoir is created by dams blocking the flow of the Cam Son River which starts its course from Huu Lung District of Lang Son Province.
The length of the reservoir is 30km and the width of the reservoir ranges from 200m to 7km. The surface water of Cam Son covers an area of 2,600 hectares which is expanded to 3,000 hectares during the rainy season (July – October).
The Cam Son is a vital water source to agriculture in Luc Ngan District which is famed for lichie fruits, an important export. And there are ranges of limestone mountains which surround the reservoir and which make the landscape a charming tourist attraction.
By the side of the reservoir there are several communities of the ethnic Tay, Nung and King with interesting lifestyle and traditional cultures. Having a boat trip on the Cam Son Reservoir, you can sample amazing traditonal performances and songs by these communities.
How To Get There
From Hanoi, you travel to Huu Lung District of Lang Son Province via Route 1A and turn right into Route 279 for 5km to Cam Son. Alternatively you can follow Route 1A past Bac Ninh and turn into Route 31 to Chu then turn left into the provincial road 273 for Cam Son. The former offers good road while the latter offers idyllic village scenery.
