Phong Nha Ke Bang is famed for the system of underground rivers, caves, karst mountains and forests, diverse ecosystem. Phong Nha Ke Bang has been inscribed to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and has been a popular tourist attraction in Vietnam. 1/ By air
There are daily flights from Hanoi to Dong Hoi City, the flight time is 1 hour 30 minutes. It is 50km from Dong Hoi to Phong Nha Ke Bang which can be done by taxi or motorbike taxi.
2/ By private car
The road trip by private car from Hanoi to Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park can either be via Route 1 which runs along the coast to the east of Vietnam or via Ho Chi Minh Road which is on the west of the country. The former is 490km and the later is 560km. The trip takes 10-12 hours and the road conditions are great.
3/ By local bus
There are some tourist buses which depart Hanoi for Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park every evening near the Old Quarter of Hanoi or from My Dinh Bus Station. The ticket costs are from 250,000VND-350,000VND.
4/ By train
There are daily overnight trains from Hanoi to Dong Hoi City with soft seat cabins and sleeper cabins. The train journeys take 10 hours. Dong Hoi Train Station is 4km from the city center. It is 50km from Dong Hoi to Phong Nha Ke Bang via the eastern leg of the Ho Chi Minh Road.
5/ By motorbike
Travel to Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park from Hanoi by motorbike is an interesting adventure which takes 2-3 days. It is recommended to stop for overnight at Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Vinh, or Ha Tinh. You can either travel via the busy Route 1 or the quiet Ho Chi Minh Road.
6/ By bicycle
It is possible to travel to Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park from Hanoi by bicycle but it requires 5-6 days. It is recommended to break the journey with overnight stay at Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Vinh, Ha Tinh.
