Phan Thiet City is a coastal city, the provincial capital of Binh Thuan Province, in the South of the Central Coast of Vietnam. Phan Thiet is among the most popular destination for beach holidays in Vietnam thanks to possessing fine sand beaches and luxury resorts nestled in evergreen palm forests.
Phan Thiet Travel Guide Overview
To the north of Mui Ne, there's a hundred or so kilometers of sand dunes and deserts and turquoise blue sea water that are heaven for those who look for getaway beach holidays and desert safaris.
Mui Ne Beach, Phan Thiet, Vietnam
Endowed with stunning natural landscapes, Phan Thiet Mui Ne and the surrounding regions are not known enough to the foreign travellers to Vietnam. Tourist infrastructure and luxury properties are available at Phan Thiet and Mui Ne only, while much of the rest of the coastline of Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan Provinces is of deserted beaches.

Travellers to Phan Thiet and Mui Ne could spend a few days to a whole month on the beach and for exploring the surrounding area. It's recommended to take a full day safari into the desert of Mui Ne, and a morning tour to catch sunrise over the fishing village of Mui Ne. Besides, you can visit the White Sand Dune (Bau Trang) in the morning and cycle through the nearby countryside in the afternoon. At weekends, some restaurants offer barbecue seafood right on the beach.
Phan Thiet Geography
The coastline, which is to the south of Phan Thiet, is like an arc from southwest to the northeast. One end of the arc is at Cape Ke Ga (Mui Ke Ga, Ke Ga Bay) and the other end is at Cape Mui Ne. Ke Ga does not belong to Phan Thiet but Mui Ne does. The city has two rivers: the Ca Ty River running northwest-southeast and the Phu Hai River running mostly north-south.

1/ Beaches at Tien Thanh, Doi Duong, Phu Hai, Mui Ne, Hon Rom
Phan Thiet is popular thanks to several beaches on the coastline which runs for several dozens of kilometers. Traditionally there were beaches at Doi Duong (near city center), Phu Hai and Mui Ne only. But the city of Phan Thiet has expanded much to the southwest to include the Tien Thanh Beach (also known as Bikini Beach) into the city. While there are rocky beaches, but mostly it is fine sandy beaches at Tien Thanh, Doi Duong, Phu Hai and Mui Ne the length of each which ranges from 7-12km.

Mui Ne is a peninsula 12km northeast of Phan Thiet center. There's a dozen kilometer stretch of sand that runs along the waterfront of Mui Ne, which has been a paradise for beach holidays. Hon Rom is 30km east of Phan Thiet City centre. Hon Rom used to be an untouched strip of white sandy beach which runs for dozens of kilometers. The beaches at Hon Rom are bounded to the rear by a low hill which looks like a haystack, hence the name Hon Rom. The sea water at Hon Rom is clear and clean and there are luxury beach resorts at Hon Rom nowadays.
2/ The Red Sand Dune
The Sand Dune is 17km from Phu Hai which is a favorite spot for photography and sandboarding.
3/ Mui Ne Fishing Village, Mui Ne Bay, Cape Mui Ne
The beautiful fishing village is right at the curve of Mui Ne Bay, 17-20km east of Phan Thiet. Mui Ne Fishing Village is a must-see and a great spot for travel photography at Phan Thiet. The distance from the village to Cape Mui Ne is 7-10km.
4/ Phan Thiet Fish Harbor, Ca Ty River
The Fish Harbor of Phan Thiet is on the estuary of the Ca Ty River in Phan Thiet City. The fish harbor was the site of a fishing village in Phan Thiet and there is still a fish market there, the Con Cha Fish Market. Phan Thiet Fish Harbor and the Con Cha Fish Market are popular places visited on photo tours.
5/ Fish-Sauce Making Villages
There are villages in and around Phan Thiet which have been specializing in producing the piquant smell fish sauces for centuries. Visiting these villages we can learn about the process of making the national dipping sauce of Vietnam.
6/ Far Flung Tourist Attractions: White Sand Dune, Hoa Thang Desert, Ganh Son, Ta Cu Mountain
