The Cuc Phuong National Park includes primeval tropical rain forests on the mountain range of Tam Diep stretching in the territory of Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh and Thanh Hoa Province. Most of the national park area is in Ninh Binh though.

The total area of Cuc Phuong National Park is 22,400 hectares and the national has an extremely diverse eco-system which is considered among the best in Vietnam. The national park is home to 2,234 vascular plants and moss (non-vascular) species, 122 species of reptiles and amphibians, 66 fish species, 2,000 insect species, 135 animal species, 336 sedentary bird species.
The symbol of Cuc Phuong National Park is Delacour’s Langurs which inhabit at Cuc Phuong and which are listed as endangered species. These langurs had been thought to be extinct 50 years ago until they were discovered to be living in Cuc Phuong in the early 1990s.
What to see, Tourist Attractions
1/ One-thousand year old timber tree (Parashorea chinensis, Dipterocarpaceae Family)
The tree started withering in 2017-2018 and had been in decaying state in 2022-2023. Still, the 7km hiking trail from the center of Cuc Phuong National Park to the the One-thousand Year-Old Tree offers a great adventure experience amid the thick tropical rain forest.
2/ Pre-historic man cave
The cave is high on the slope of a limestone mountain with thick forest around. Archaeological artefacts show that it was a shelter and tombs of prehistoric man about 7,500 years ago.
3/ Botanical Gardens
The botanical gardens at Cuc Phuong are to indicate patches of tropical rain forest of the national park.
