A Luoi is a district of Thua Thien Hue Province. The district is right on the Laotian border and on elevations of 600-700m above sea level. A Luoi enjoys pleasant temperatures and cool temperatures for most of the year.

Weather and Climate
A Luoi has a tropical monsoon climate on high altitudes. The temperatures are pleasant for most of the year.
The rainy season is from late August through mid of January and the dry season is from February through July. The gaps in between these periods are transitional time: there may be short-lived rain in July, early August and early January.
It is very strong sunshine in day time in the dry season: March-July. Make sure to bring along a hat, sunglasses when taking part in outdoor activities here. The temperatures are always chilly in the early morning and from mid afternoon, be prepared with a light jacket going out then.
It is not recommended to travel to A Luoi during the high rainy season: September through mid of December. It is more like heavy rain which may pose high risks of landslides and flash floods. The weather is not good for visiting sites anyway.

The district is home to some ethnic groups: Ta Oi, Van Kieu, Co Tu...whose daily life is quite separated from the mainstream world.

A Luoi was a site of several fierce battles during the Vietnam (American) War. Visiting the area, you can visit different old battlefields with lots of history to learn.

How to get there
A Luoi District is 70km west-southwest of Hue City via Route 49. The road is small but in fine conditions mostly. There may be damage as result of landslides during the rainy season (September through December). The landscapes by the roadsides include tropical forest, dense forest, and rice fields. There are also some barren hills on the way.
