The Ba Khan Reservoir is part of the Da River and part of the Hoa Binh Reservoir which feeds water to the Hoa Binh Hydro Power Plant. Ba Khan is just like another Halong Bay amid mountains with lush green forests and woods by the riversides and idyllic ethnic villages.
Travel Guide to Ba Khan Reservoir, Mai Chau, Hoa Binh
Geography
The Ba Khan Reservoir is in Ba Khan Commune (split off from former Son Thuy Commune), Mai Chau District, Hoa Binh Province. The name possibly comes from the names of the three villages in the commune which start with the word “Khan”.
Ba Khan terrain is idyllic with sublime mountains running from west to east in the back and the Da River flowing from west to east in the front. This part of the Da River is called the Ba Khan Reservoir. If you stop on the Thung Khe Pass and cast your eyes further down then the peaceful valleys you see belong to Ba Khan.
The strip of land in between the mountains and the river is home to Muong Villages and several rice fields.
