VietJetAir is to begin flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang from 27April2012 and between Hanoi - Nha Trang from 19May2012. The flights between Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang are twice daily and the flights Hanoi - Nha Trang are once daily. Also, VietJetAir is to increase flights between Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City to 8 return flights per day.

5Jan2012, Emirates announced that the airlines is to begin flights between Dubai and Ho Chi Minh City from 4June2012. Vietnam Aviation Authority confirmed on the same day that the airlines was preparing formalities for having daily flights to Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

According to news from Vietnam Aviation Authority, it has granted a license permitting AeroSvit Airlines to operate twice-weekly flights between Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and Kiev (Ukraine). The flights departing from Ho Chi Minh City will be on Thursday and Sunday.
Qatar Airways has also increased flights for Doha - Bangkok - Hanoi from 4 flights per week to 7 flights per week. Qatar Airways has daily flights for Doha - Bangkok - Ho Chi Minh City, too.

From 14Dec2011, Asiana Airlines began weekly flights between Seoul Incheon Airport (South Korea) and Danang International Airport (Vietnam), announced the airlines spokesperson. The aircrafts for these flights are Airbus 321-200 with 177 seats. There is huge demand for air travel between South Korea and Vietnam and Asiana Airlines has flights between major cities of the two countries: Incheon - Ho Chi Minh City (14 flights per week), Incheon - Hanoi (7 flights per week), Busan - Ho Chi Minh City (7 flights per week), Busan - Hanoi (7 flights per week), Incheon - Danang (1 flight per week).

Vietnam Airlines will officially increase airfare for flights within Vietnam from 15-20% from 15Dec2011, announced Le Hoang Dung - Vietnam Airlines' spokesman. This decision is to follow the new airfare ceilings approval by Vietnam Ministry of Transport on 14Sept2011.

Sichuan Airlines has had over six months of operating flights for Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) - Nanning (China) - Chengdu (Sichuan, China). Currently, the air firm operates 2 flights per week for this route on Monday and Thursday, but it is planning daily flights and direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Chengdu, instead of having one stop at Nanning now.
According to Sichuan Airlines, the current seat occupancy is about 70%, mostly for travellers from China to visit Vietnam. The air firm is to target Vietnamese travel agencies and tour operators bringing tourists from Vietnam to western China and Tibet.

VietJetAir, a new low cost airline in Vietnam, is to begin its flights in Vietnam on 25Dec2011. Initially, the airline plans to fly between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) with 2 flights from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City and 2 return flights each day. From 10Jan2012 to 30April2012, there will be 3 flights from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City and 3 return flights each day.

24November2011, Xoan Singing of Phu Tho Province of Vietnam was inscribed by the UNESCO to the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity which is in need of urgent Safeguarding. According to news from Vasco, a subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines, there is increasing demand for air travel between Ca Mau and Ho Chi Minh City and the air firm is to increase flights to this city. From November 2011, Vasco is to have daily flights between these 2 cities: the flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Ca Mau departs at 05:55 and arrives at 06:55 A.M; from Ca Mau to Ho Chi Minh City, the flight departs at 07:35 and arrives at 08:40 A.M.

Air Mekong, a Vietnamese private airline, announces that the firm is to operate 50 more flights between major tourist attractions in Vietnam in the period from 23Dec2011 to 3Jan2012 to meet the surge in demand for air travel in the country during the time. Most of the flights are for Hanoi - Phu Quoc Island, Hanoi - Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc Island and Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao Island. According to the airline, there will be 2 flights per day to Con Dao Island instead of 5 flights per week at present; and 1 to 2 flights per day to Phu Quoc Island instead of 12 flights per week now.
Halong Bay Vietnam was named among the Provisional Seven Wonders of Nature after the first count of vote results on 11/11/11.The bay stretches in an area of 1553 square kilometers in the north-east of Vietnam, 165km from Hanoi. Halong Bay includes 1,969 rocky islands and islets jutting out of the emerald water of the East Vietnam Sea.

6Oct2011 Vietnam Railways announced the plan for selling train tickets for the Vietnamese Lunar New Year in 2012 (Vietnamese Tet) with 10% increase of ticket prices for train journeys northwards before Tet and for those southwards after Tet. During the peak time, train ticket prices may increase by 19-39%. There is no information about the peak time just yet. It often happens that there is severe shortage of train tickets in Vietnam during the period of Tet; as the Vietnamese flock home northwards before Tet and travel back to work after Tet. The Vietnamese Tet in 2012 is on 23Jan2012, which means public holidays in Vietnam for Tet is 22,23,24,25Jan2012.
