From 1July2013, Vietnam Airlines is to begin two new flights: Da Nang - Seoul (South Korea) and Da Nang - Siem Reap (Cambodia). There are 3 weekly flights between Da Nang - Seoul are on Monday, Thursday and Saturday with Airbus 321 aircraft. The flight departs Da Nang at 0005hr and arrives at Seoul at 0930 A.M (local time). The flight from Da Nang to Seoul is 4 hours and the return flight is 5 hours.
By Thu Huong. 4June2013 The opening ceremony for tours around Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) by speedboat is hosted at Thu Thiem Pier. The city is crisscrossed by a system of rivers and canals, but there had been no tours of the city by waterways earlier. The current fleet includes 10 speedboats with capacity carrying 6-40 passengers.

From 1June2013, VietJetAir begins its daily direct flights between Hanoi (Vietnam) and Bangkok (Thailand) providing more choices for the air travellers between to two cities as well as between Vietnam and Thailand. The flight from Hanoi departs at 1050 A.M and arrives at Bangkok at 1240 P.M. The return flight departs at 1335 P.M and arrives back at 1525.

Vietnam Airlines decides to fly daily to Tho Xuan Airport in Thanh Hoa Province from 1July2013. Currently, the air firm has 5 flights per week between Ho Chi Minh City and Thanh Hoa. There has been a big increase in demand for air travel between the two destinations since the opening of Tho Xuan Airport to commercial flights in February 2013. All flights are with Airbus 321 and the flight time is 1h50.

1Mar2013 Air Astana officially announced starting flights between Almaty (Kazakhstan) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). These flights are on every Wednesday and Friday using Boeing 757 with 150 Economy Class seats and 16 Business Class seats. The flight from Almaty to Ho Chi Minh City transits via Bangkok (Thailand) which takes 9 hours and the return flight from Ho Chi Minh City is a direct one taking 7 hours.

For the reason of restructuring the airfleet and personel, Air Mekong plans to stop flying temporarily from 28Feb2013. Representative of Vietnam Aviation Authority also confirms that Air Mekong only registers the flight schedule till 28Feb2013 and has not registered the flight schedule for the time after 28Feb2013.

According to Vietnam Aviation Authority, one of the two runways at Saigon Tan Son Nhat Airport is to be closed for maintenance from 25February2013. The maintenance time is estimated to take 8 months. Because there will be only one runway in operation, flight schedules are to be adjusted accordingly.

28Jan2013 hosts a ceremony for direct flights between Moscow (Russia) and Nha Trang (Vietnam). At first, there is one flight per week between the two cities. At the end of 2013, Vietnam Airlines plans to have two direct flights per week. The new flights are to meet the increasing demand from Russian tourists for the travel destinations in the South Central Coast of Vietnam including Phan Thiet Mui Ne, Ninh Thuan and Nha Trang which are all known for untouched sandy beaches, luxury beach resorts and hotels and sunshine almost all year round.
The Vietnamese follow two calendars: Gregorian and Lunar Calendars. While Gregorian Calendar is for official work, the Lunar Calendar is mostly for traditions, spiritual life and events, and for agricultural work.
Vietnam visa fees are increased from 1January2013 compared to earlier, according to Circular 190/2012/TT-BTC issued on 9November2012 amending Circular 66/2009/TT-BTC issued on 30March2009 prescribing the administration of fees related to immigration in Vietnam.

6Jan2013 Cambodia Angkor Air begins its first flight between Phnom Penh (Cambodia) and Hanoi (Vietnam). Airbus 321 aircrafts are to be used for these flights. This is the only daily flight between the two capital cities of Cambodia and Vietnam.
Earlier, Cambodia Angkor Air started its first flights between Phnom Penh and Bangkok (Thailand) on 30Nov2012. On this route, the air firm uses ATR72 with 67 seats.
Cambodia Angkor Air, which started its operation in July 2009, is a joint-venture between Cambodia Government (51%) and Vietnam Airlines (49%). At the beginning, the airline only operated flights within Cambodia (Phnom Penh - Siem Reap, Siem Reap - Sihanouville), between Cambodia - Laos, and between Cambodia - Vietnam. 15Dec2012 VietJetAir begins its flights between Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and Phu Quoc Island (in Rach Gia Gulf, southern Vietnam). The daily flight departs Ho Chi Minh Tan Son Nhat Airport at 07:15 A.M and arrives at Phu Quoc Island at 08:05 A.M. The return flights leaves Phu Quoc International Airport at 08:40 A.M and arrives back at Tan Son Nhat Airport at 09:30 A.M. The flights are with Airbus 320 with 180 seats.
