According to Air Mekong, the air carrier is to offer direct flights between Hanoi and Phu Quoc Island from 28-April-2011. This is the longest flight route in Vietnam by far. All these flights will be with Bombardier CRJ 900 aircrafts and the flight time is 2 hours 20 minutes. The direct flight is to save the passenger over 2 hours compared to those transit via Saigon Tan Son Nhat Airport.

According to Malaysia Airlines, the firm is to increase flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Kuala Lumpur to 21 flights/week (3 flights/day) from July-2011. Currently, the Airline is having 20 flights/week between Ho Chi Minh City and Luala Lumpur and 7 flights/week between Kuala Lumpur and Hanoi.
Travellers from Europe, ASEAN Countries, Australia and New Zealand could travel to Vietnam on Malaysia Airlines's flights which transit via Kuala Lumpur.

According to Vietnam Railways, the company is to suspend the pair of trains: SE7/8. From Hanoi, SE7 is to be suspended on 06-May-2011 and from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), SE8 Train is to be suspended on 7-May-2011. The decision came due to the decreasing number of travellers making trips between Hanoi and Saigon in the summer time. Earlier, Vietnam Railways has informed to be increasing the number of trains to popular tourist destinations in Vietnam to meet the surge in demand of train travel during 30-April and 1-May, big Vietnamese public holidays.

News from the authority of Bach Ma National Park is that the Park is closed to tourism till the end of 2011 for expanding the road to the top of the National Park. The current road of 3.5m wide is to be expanded to 5-7m wide. The first phase of the project is done in 2011 and the second is to be finished in 2013.

According to Vietnam Airlines, the flights between Da Nang and Hai Phong of Vietnam are to be reopened on 28-April-2011, just right before the big Vietnamese travel occasion: Vietnam Reunification Day (30/04) and Labor Day (1/5). Passengers are to fly ATR72s on these flights which are planned on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Vietnam Airlines had to close flights between these 2 cities 10 years ago. Earlier, the Airlines also openen flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong.

According to Vietnam Airlines, Rach Gia Airport is closed for repair from 4-April-2011 to 23-April-2011. All Vietnam Airlines flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Quoc Island via Rach Gia Airport are cancelled during the time. The airlines also increases 1 more direct flight between Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Quoc Island per day between 08-April-2011 to 12-April-2011, the time of the Death Anniversary of Kings Hung Vuong which are Public Holidays in Vietnam.

Vietnam is suffering from high inflation at the beginning of 2011, after Tet - the Vietnamese Traditional Lunar New Year. The World Bank forecasts Vietnam to have 9.5% inflation in 2011 while the Asian Development Bank (ADB) forecasts the inflation of 13.3% for Vietnam in 2011. The ADB also forecasts inflation in Vietnam will peak in Q3 which may reach 16% and will be lower in the months after. There were major increases in Vietnam in prices in Vietnam in Q1 alone: electricity increased by 15.3% and petrol prices creased by 30%.

According to the authority of Phu Bai Airport in Hue Vietnam, the airport is closed for 1 month from 00:01hrs of 13-May-2011 through 23:59hrs of 13-June-2011 for repair. All flights to and from Phu Bai Airport will resume on the 14th of June, 2011. During the time of repair, passengers on the booked flights to/from Hue are advised to change to the flights to/from Da Nang Airport which is 120km away.
