Air Mekong starts direct flights between Hanoi and Phu Quoc Island

According to Air Mekong, the air carrier is to offer direct flights between Hanoi and Phu Quoc Island from 28-April-2011. This is the longest flight route in Vietnam by far. All these flights will be with Bombardier CRJ 900 aircrafts and the flight time is 2 hours 20 minutes. The direct flight is to save the passenger over 2 hours compared to those transit via Saigon Tan Son Nhat Airport.
In the first phase, Air Mekong plans to have 4-5 flights per week between Hanoi and Phu Quoc Island; from 1-June-2011, there will be daily flight between these two destinations. From Hanoi, the departure time is 06:00 A.M; and from Phu Quoc Island, the departure time is 15:40.
Air Mekong, with head office on Phu Quoc Island of Vietnam, was founded as a conventional airline on 9-October-2010 with four Bombardier CRJ 900 aircrafts. The air carrier offers flights to major cities in Vietnam including Hanoi, Phu Quoc Island, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Con Dao Island, Pleiku, Buon Ma Thuot and Da Lat.
