Air France Increases Flights Between France and Vietnam

According to Air France, the airline is to increase direct flights between Tan Son Nhat Airport (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) and Charles de Gaulle Airport (Paris, France) from the end of October-2011. Currently, Air France has flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Paris on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and is planning two more flights on Monday and Saturday. All these flights are with Boeing B777-200 và B777-300. Due to low volume, direct flights between Vietnam and France were suspended earlier and was restored only a year ago.
Air France also discloses that the airline still maintains the 6 code-share flights per week with Vietnam Airlines between Hanoi and Paris. These code-share flights are operated by Vietnam Airlines.

Air Mekong opens flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Quy Nhon

Air Mekong, a newly established private air carrier in Vietnam, starts flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Quy Nhon Beach City of Binh Dinh Province from 1-June-2011. Tickets for these flights are to be available on the firm's website and via air ticket agents from 15-May-2011, disclosed by the airline's spokeman. There are daily flights between Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh Province). From Ho Chi Minh City Tan Son Nhat Airport, the flight departs at 08:15 A.M and arrives at Phu Cat Airport of Quy Nhon City at 09:15 A.M. The return flight from Quy Nhon departs at 10:15 A.M and arrives at Tan Son Nhat Airport at 11:15 A.M. Air Mekong uses Bombardier CRJ 900 aircrafts for all its flights.

Air Mekong starts direct flights between Hanoi and Phu Quoc Island

According to Air Mekong, the air carrier is to offer direct flights between Hanoi and Phu Quoc Island from 28-April-2011. This is the longest flight route in Vietnam by far. All these flights will be with Bombardier CRJ 900 aircrafts and the flight time is 2 hours 20 minutes. The direct flight is to save the passenger over 2 hours compared to those transit via Saigon Tan Son Nhat Airport.

AirAsia to begin flights Kuala Lumpur - Da Nang

AirAsia is to begin direct flights between Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Da Nang (Vietnam) from 16Dec2011. The airline plans 4 flights per week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and all flights are with Airbus 320. Beside Da Nang, AirAsia also flies to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) of Vietnam.

AirMekong To Increase Flights to Vietnam Travel Attractions

Air Mekong, a Vietnamese private airline, announces that the firm is to operate 50 more flights between major tourist attractions in Vietnam in the period from 23Dec2011 to 3Jan2012 to meet the surge in demand for air travel in the country during the time. Most of the flights are for Hanoi - Phu Quoc Island, Hanoi - Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc Island and Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao Island. According to the airline, there will be 2 flights per day to Con Dao Island instead of 5 flights per week at present; and 1 to 2 flights per day to Phu Quoc Island instead of 12 flights per week now.

Asiana Airlines Begins Danang Flights

From 14Dec2011, Asiana Airlines began weekly flights between Seoul Incheon Airport (South Korea) and Danang International Airport (Vietnam), announced the airlines spokesperson. The aircrafts for these flights are Airbus 321-200 with 177 seats. There is huge demand for air travel between South Korea and Vietnam and Asiana Airlines has flights between major cities of the two countries: Incheon - Ho Chi Minh City (14 flights per week), Incheon - Hanoi (7 flights per week), Busan - Ho Chi Minh City (7 flights per week), Busan - Hanoi (7 flights per week), Incheon - Danang (1 flight per week).

Cambodia Angkor Air Begins Phnom Penh - Hanoi Flights

6Jan2013 Cambodia Angkor Air begins its first flight between Phnom Penh (Cambodia) and Hanoi (Vietnam). Airbus 321 aircrafts are to be used for these flights. This is the only daily flight between the two capital cities of Cambodia and Vietnam.
Earlier, Cambodia Angkor Air started its first flights between Phnom Penh and Bangkok (Thailand) on 30Nov2012. On this route, the air firm uses ATR72 with 67 seats.
Cambodia Angkor Air, which started its operation in July 2009, is a joint-venture between Cambodia Government (51%) and Vietnam Airlines (49%). At the beginning, the airline only operated flights within Cambodia (Phnom Penh - Siem Reap, Siem Reap - Sihanouville), between Cambodia - Laos, and between Cambodia - Vietnam. Emirates to Start Ho Chi Minh City Flights

5Jan2012, Emirates announced that the airlines is to begin flights between Dubai and Ho Chi Minh City from 4June2012. Vietnam Aviation Authority confirmed on the same day that the airlines was preparing formalities for having daily flights to Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Etihad Airways Begins Ho Chi Minh City Flights

9Oct2012 Etihad Airways hosted a press conference in Ho Chi Minh City announcing the plan for direct flights by the air firm between Abu Dhabi (UAE) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) starting from October 2013. The new flights are to meet the increasing demand for air travel between the two countries by both leisure travel market and business travel market. Etihad Airways plans to use Airbus 330-200 for the Vietnam flights with 22 Business Class Seats and 240 Economy Class Seats.

2Oct2013 Etihad Airways officially begins daily direct flights between Abu Dhabi (UAE) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). All flights are with Airbus 330-200 with 22 Business Class seats and 240 Economy Class seats. The flight departs Abu Dhabi at 0830 A.M, the return flight departs Ho Chi Minh City at 2030 P.M. The flight time is 7 hours 30 minutes. These flights help to faciliate air travel between Vietnam and the Middle East as well as between Vietnam and Europe.

Ho Chi Minh City - Dubai Direct Flights

4June2012 Emirates started its first direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City (southern Vietnam) and Dubai (United Arab Emirates). Aircrafts used initially are Airbus 330-200 with 27 Business Class seats and 251 Economy Class seats.

In February 2015, Jestar Pacific begins direct flights between Buon Ma Thuot - Thanh Hoa and Buon Ma Thuot - Hai Phong. There are 2 return flights per week between Buon Ma Thuot - Thanh Hoa on Tuesday and Thursday. The flight time is 1 hour 30 minutes. There are 3 return flights per week between Buon Ma Thuot - Hai Phong on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The new flight routes are to meet the huge demands for air travel between these destinations, especially the surge during the Vietnamese Lunar New Year (Tet Nguyen Dan).

Malaysia Airlines Increases Flights between Malaysia and Vietnam

According to Malaysia Airlines, the firm is to increase flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Kuala Lumpur to 21 flights/week (3 flights/day) from July-2011. Currently, the Airline is having 20 flights/week between Ho Chi Minh City and Luala Lumpur and 7 flights/week between Kuala Lumpur and Hanoi.
Travellers from Europe, ASEAN Countries, Australia and New Zealand could travel to Vietnam on Malaysia Airlines's flights which transit via Kuala Lumpur.

SilkAir Begins Hanoi Flights

On 5June2012, SilkAir started its first flight between Singapore and Hanoi Vietnam. The flight is on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday departing Singapore Changi Airport at 1515 and arriving at Hanoi Noi Bai Airport at 1735 on the same day. The return flight from Hanoi departs at 1830 and arrives in Singapore at 2250 on the same day. This is the second direct flight by SilkAir between Singapore and Vietnam, after the one between Singapore and Da Nang (in the Central Region of Vietnam).

VietJetAir Begins Ho Chi Minh City - Da Lat Flights

From 22Mar2014 VietJetAir begins flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Lat. Earlier, there were only flights by Vietnam Airlines on this route. Besides, the air firm operates regular flights between Hanoi - Da Lat and Vinh - Da Lat.

VietJetAir to Begin Hanoi - Phu Quoc Flights

VietJetAir, a budget airline in Vietnam, is to begin its daily flights between Hanoi and Phu Quoc Island on 28-May-2014. The flight from Hanoi is to depart at 13:10 arriving at Phu Quoc Island at 15:40, and the return flight is to depart Phu Quoc at 16:10 arriving back at Hanoi at 18:40.
Phu Quoc Island is a hotspot tourist attraction, located off-shore to the south-west of Vietnam. Summer months from May to September is the peak domestic tourist season in Vietnam.

VietJetAir to Begin Hanoi - Siem Reap Flights

From 3-November-2014, VietJetAir is to begin daily direct flights between Hanoi and Siem Reap. The flight departs Hanoi at 17:15 and arrives at Siem Reap at 19:05, the return flight departs Siem Reap at 20:05 and arrives at Hanoi at 21:55.

Vietnam Airlines Suspends Pleiku Flights

According to announcements from Vietnam Airlines, the air firm is to suspend all Pleiku flights from 15-March-2015 to 25-October-2015 for the upcoming airport expansion. Tickets for these flights which have been issued are to be refunded fully. The passengers with issued ticket can change the flight to a nearby arrival/departure airport at Buon Ma Thuot or Quy Nhon with reduction or surcharge based on the difference in airfares.

Vietnam Airlines announces that the air firm is to begin flights between Phu Quoc Island - Singapore and Phu Quoc Island - Siem Reap from November 2014. There are 2 weekly flights between Phu Quoc - Singapore with Airbus 321 aircraft, 3 weekly flights between Phu Quoc - Siem Reap with ATR 72 aircraft. The flight time for Phu Quoc - Singapore is 3 hours and that for Phu Quoc - Siem Reap is 1 hour 30 minutes.
