9Oct2012 Etihad Airways hosted a press conference in Ho Chi Minh City announcing the plan for direct flights by the air firm between Abu Dhabi (UAE) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) starting from October 2013. The new flights are to meet the increasing demand for air travel between the two countries by both leisure travel market and business travel market. Etihad Airways plans to use Airbus 330-200 for the Vietnam flights with 22 Business Class Seats and 240 Economy Class Seats.
Currently, passengers of Etihad Airways could take connecting flights between Bangkok (Thailand) or Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City on codeshare flights with Vietnam Airlines. Vietnam is the new destination for Etihad in South East Asia, after Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Singapore.
Etihad Airways is the third Middle-East based air firm offering Vietnam flights after Emirates and Qatar Airways.
