Phu Quoc Island is a popular tourist attraction in Vietnam. The island is ringed with pristine sandy beaches. There are a quite a number of new luxury beach resorts and luxury hotels on Phu Quoc Island since 2007. Still, there is a serious lack of accommodations and air tickets to the island in high tourist seasons.
Vietnam is planning to turn Phu Quoc into a Special Economic and Administrative Zone. From Phu Quoc, the travellers can also continue the trip into Cambodia or the Mekong Delta.
