A New Air Firm in Vietnam: Bamboo Airways
Bamboo Airways is licensed to operate flights in Vietnam on 12November2018. The new air carrier has a plan to operate 100 flight routes connecting different tourist destinations in Vietnam and between Vietnam and overseas travel destinations. In the initial phase, the flight routes are Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi - Dong Hoi, Hanoi - Quy Nhon, Ho Chi Minh City - Quy Nhon, Ho Chi Minh City - Van Don.

Air Mekong Temporarily Stops Flying

For the reason of restructuring the airfleet and personel, Air Mekong plans to stop flying temporarily from 28Feb2013. Representative of Vietnam Aviation Authority also confirms that Air Mekong only registers the flight schedule till 28Feb2013 and has not registered the flight schedule for the time after 28Feb2013.

Hue Phu Bai Airport Planned for Early Reopening

22July2013 According to news from Vietnam Aviation Authority, the overhaul of Phu Bai Airport in Hue is to be completed 2 months earlier than scheduled. The airport had been planned for the reopening on 20Nov2013. After inspection of the works by officials from Vietnam Aviation Authority on 22July2013, the reopening of the airport has been changed to 20September2013. The official announcement by Vietnam Aviation Authority is due in the next few days.

Hue Phu Bai Airport Planned for Temporary Closure
25Oct2012 According to news from People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam has submitted a plan for renewing Hue Phu Bai Airport which will lead to temporary closure of the airport from March to November 2013.
The document reveals that the project planning phase has been completed and that the runway of the airport be repaired for safe landings and taking-offs.

Jetstar Pacific Flights Buon Ma Thuot to Thanh Hoa & Hai Phong

In February 2015, Jestar Pacific begins direct flights between Buon Ma Thuot - Thanh Hoa and Buon Ma Thuot - Hai Phong. There are 2 return flights per week between Buon Ma Thuot - Thanh Hoa on Tuesday and Thursday. The flight time is 1 hour 30 minutes. There are 3 return flights per week between Buon Ma Thuot - Hai Phong on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The new flight routes are to meet the huge demands for air travel between these destinations, especially the surge during the Vietnamese Lunar New Year (Tet Nguyen Dan).

Saigon Tan Son Nhat Airport Runway Closed

According to Vietnam Aviation Authority, one of the two runways at Saigon Tan Son Nhat Airport is to be closed for maintenance from 25February2013. The maintenance time is estimated to take 8 months. Because there will be only one runway in operation, flight schedules are to be adjusted accordingly.

Tan Son Nhat Airport Repaired Runway Open Again

Reparation of one of the two runways at Ho Chi Minh City Tan Son Nhat Airport has been completed and the runway has been ready for flights again from 2July2013. Saigon Tan Son Nhat Airport has two runways built by the Americans in 1965-1967 for military aircrafts. The runways were upgraded and renewed in 1992 and 2002 to accommodate the busy flight schedules and different commercial aircrafts. The closure of the runway caused a lot of shuffles in the domestic flights in Vietnam, as Tan Son Nhat is the busiest airport in the country.

Van Don Airport in Halong Bay starts operation
Van Don Airport in Halong Bay starts coming into operation from 30December 2018. This is the first privately owned airport in Vietnam. The airport is planned for Vietnam domestic flights and international flights which faciliate travel to Halong Bay, a world-famed tourist attraction in Vietnam.

VietJetAir Begins Flights Ho Chi Minh City - Quy Nhon

9November2013 VietJetAir started the first daily flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Quy Nhon. The flights are with Airbus Sharklet aircrafts providing 2,500 seats each week for the travellers between two cities. VietJetAir is the first private air firm in Vietnam operating flights to most destinations in Vietnam, between Vietnam and Bangkok (Thailand), Siem Reap (Cambodia), Seoul (South Korea).

From 22Mar2014 VietJetAir begins flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Lat. Earlier, there were only flights by Vietnam Airlines on this route. Besides, the air firm operates regular flights between Hanoi - Da Lat and Vinh - Da Lat.

15Dec2012 VietJetAir begins its flights between Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and Phu Quoc Island (in Rach Gia Gulf, southern Vietnam). The daily flight departs Ho Chi Minh Tan Son Nhat Airport at 07:15 A.M and arrives at Phu Quoc Island at 08:05 A.M. The return flights leaves Phu Quoc International Airport at 08:40 A.M and arrives back at Tan Son Nhat Airport at 09:30 A.M. The flights are with Airbus 320 with 180 seats.

VietJetAir Begins Ho Chi Minh City - Vinh Flights

On 05Nov2012, VietJetAir officially started its first direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and Vinh City (Nghe An Province, in the Central Region of Vietnam). The air firm operates one daily flights between these two cities using Airbus 320 aircrafts with 180 seats. The flight from Ho Chi Minh City departs Tan Son Nhat Airport at 10:35 A.M and arrives at Vinh at 12:20 P.M. The return flight from Vinh City departs at 13:05.

VietJetAir to Begin Hanoi - Phu Quoc Flights

VietJetAir, a budget airline in Vietnam, is to begin its daily flights between Hanoi and Phu Quoc Island on 28-May-2014. The flight from Hanoi is to depart at 13:10 arriving at Phu Quoc Island at 15:40, and the return flight is to depart Phu Quoc at 16:10 arriving back at Hanoi at 18:40.
Phu Quoc Island is a hotspot tourist attraction, located off-shore to the south-west of Vietnam. Summer months from May to September is the peak domestic tourist season in Vietnam.

VietJetAir to Fly to Hue and to Buon Ma Thuot

From 15October2013, VietJetAir is to begin daily flights on new routes Hanoi - Hue and Hanoi - Buon Ma Thuot. From Hanoi to Hue, the flight departs at 1640 and the return flight departs Hue at 1825. From Hanoi to Buon Ma Thuot, the flight departs at 11:40 A.M, the return flight departs Buon Ma Thuot at 16:55. Earlier, there had been only flights by Vietnam Airlines on these routes.

The flight from Hanoi departs Noi Bai Airport at 10:00 A.M and arrives at Phu Quoc Island at 12:25 P.M. The return flights departs Phu Quoc Island at 13:15 and arrives at Noi Bai Airport at 15:40.
