26April2012 Phuc Thinh Company started the commuting speedboats between Halong Bay (Quang Ninh Province) and Cat Ba Island (Hai Phong Province). The piers at Ha Long City are Hon Gai and Tuan Chau Island; those on Cat Ba Island are Gia Luan and Ben Beo.

There are three daily return speedboat trips for Hon Gai - Ben Beo route. Each one-way trip takes 45 minutes. And there are six daily return trips between Tuan Chau Island and Gia Luan, which takes 15 minutes each way. For arrival at Gia Luan, the company arranges transfers from the pier to Cat Ba Town.
The speedboat trips between Halong Bay and Cat Ba Island makes it more convenient for the travellers to visit these two famous tourist attractions in northern Vietnam.
