In North Vietnam, October is autumn. In October 2018 there were successive spells of winter monsoon at the beginning of the month and in the middle of the month which made the temperatures drop sharply. There were rains which accompanied the monsoons for 2-4 days each time. For most of the month the North has enjoyed sunny weather, breezy and chilly. The temperatures in the Northeast were from 12-27oC, in the Northwest 15-28oC, and 16-29 in the Red River Delta and the surrounding regions.
The North of the Central Region (Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh) has similar weather pattern to the North and enjoyed mostly sunshine with temperatures 18-28oC.
The coastal areas in the Central Region of Vietnam (Central Coast of Vietnam including: Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan) has enjoyed mostly sunshine in the middle of the rainy season. This is very strange. The temperatures were 22-29oC to the northern region and 24-32 to the southern region (Nha Trang, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan)
The Central Highlands of Vietnam has been around the end of the rainy season. It was mostly sunshine all the month, except for Da Lat where there were sporadic rains daily. The temperatures were 14-25oC in Da Lat and 16-32oC in the other provinces.
The South of Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Vung Tau, Dong Nai, and the Mekong Delta) was coming towards the end of the rainy season with rains lasting for 30 minutes to an hour each day. The temperatures were between 24-33oC.
