These are notes on Vietnam weather in July 2024 and what to know before planning travel holidays to Vietnam in 2024, be it your family trip or your travelers’ Vietnam holidays if you are a travel agency or tour company.
General Weather Patterns in Vietnam in July
July is summer in northern Vietnam with temperatures ranging from pleasant to hot (26-36oC), the dry and hot season in the Central Coast of Vietnam. July is the rainy season in the Central Highlands and southern Vietnam. The temperatures in the Central Highlands are 22-32oC and those in southern Vietnam are 26-36oC.
The prevalent winds in Vietnam in July are often the Southeasterly Wind in the North and Southwesterly Wind in the Central Highlands and southern Vietnam. The Easterly Wind is sometimes found in northern Vietnam which causes pleasant temperatures. The Westerly Wind is sometimes found in part of the Central Coast of Vietnam which causes dry and hot weather.
In the North, the Southeasterly Wind often causes nice temperatures, humid air and sometimes showers. In the Central Highland and southern Vietnam, the Southwesterly Wind causes daily short-lived showers refreshing the air.
There may be tropical depressions or typhoons in Vietnam in July which is more likely to have impact on the North or North of the Central Coast.
The sea should be often calm all over Vietnam from the North to the South including the Con Dao Islands and the Phu Quoc Island in July.
Apart from seasonal monsoons, the regional weather in Vietnam is also impacted by the presence of hot air troughs which form in the atmosphere over the southwest of China and in Laos. If these air troughs are present and growing, then it is more likely that some places in Vietnam including part of the Red River Delta, and/or the Central Coast, and/or the Central Highlands, and/or southern Vietnam are to experience dry and hot weather.
