January is the winter in the North of Vietnam, about to be the end of the rainy and cold season in the Central Coast, the dry season in the Central Highlands and South of Vietnam.
The cold Northeasterly Monsoon can be strong or weak in the North of Vietnam depending on each year. There are some days the North is affected by the Southeasterly Monsoon which may cause pleasant temperatures and damp air.
In the Central Coast, there is less rain in January; and there are days with sunshine. Depending on each year given climate change that January could be a lovely transitional time between the rainy season and the dry season. The rains are more short-lived and lighter compared to November and December. The temperatures are absolutely pleasant. It is mostly lovely sunshine in the South of the Central Coast from Nha Trang, Phan Rang to Phan Thiet and Mui Ne.
The Central Highlands and South of Vietnam are enjoying loveliest moments of the dry season. January is among the best time to visit these regions be it you want a family tour in the Mekong Delta, a luxury holiday in the seaside destinations, or a honeymoon trip in the Central Highlands…
The offshore islands including the Phu Quoc Island and Con Dao Islands should have lovely time and definitely great for beach vacations. Still there is downside that those who love boat trips, snorkeling or scuba-diving then it may not be good at all on the Con Son Island (Con Dao Islands) due to strong winds, strong waves and rough sea.
