Our review of Typhoons in Vietnam 2022 is a summary of the typhoons which had impacts the sea and/or the inland of Vietnam in 2022 which helps travelers to plan travel holidays to Vietnam in 2023 and the coming years.
Vietnam is occasionally hit by typhoons in the period from June through October. Sometimes there are typhoons in May and November. Rarely but it has happened that a typhoon may come to Vietnam in January.
The summer in northern Vietnam is usually from May through July and early August. The summer in northern Vietnam in 2022 was a mild one compared to normal. The North experienced only more or less than 10 days that the temperatures were considered hot ( exceeding 36oC) in the Vietnamese minds (real feel). That was unusual compared to normal in several decades. And this year it rained more in the summer.
And it was also unusual that summer seemed to have started 3-4 weeks later and ended 3-4 weeks earlier than normal. This made the ‘real summer’ in northern Vietnam in 2022 was surprisingly short! When Europe was experiencing successive heat waves in August, autumn seemed to have started in Vietnam for a while.
This year, the coupled ocean-atmosphere system reflects La Nina which is expected to persists into early 2023 (January – March).
