Travel Guide to Ta Van Village, Sapa
The Ta Van Village was among the earliest villages in Sapa that tourists visited and stayed overnight. From here you can visit the community, the rattan suspension bridge, trek further to Ta Giang Phinh Village or trek upwards the mountain to Seo Mi Ty Village.
Visiting Ta Van earlier, you could stay with local ethnic families and did farm work with them, or had an easy stay doing nothing but gazing at the beautiful scenery. There are more travel services nowadays that ensures comfort to those on long holidays: coffee, restaurants...
To travel to Ta Van, you can do it by the main road or via one of the trekking trails. By the main road, you take the street in front of Sapa Market and head southward. This road offers captivating views of the Hoang Lien Mountain, the Fansipan Peak, a valley with rice terraces to the right all the way to the village.
The views are particularly spectacular once you approaches the Muong Hoa Valley. There are villages in the valley and the one the farthest in view is the Ta Van Village. Further in the backdrop is the imposing Hoang Lien Mountain Range. There is a river running along the north-south axis bisecting the valley into two parts. To get to the village you have to cross a bridge across this river.
For those who love trekking, there are two main trails that you may like to choose. One trail goes through Cat Cat – Y Linh Ho – Lao Chai – Ta Van. This trail offers a hard trek of 15-18km and takes a full day. Another trail goes through the Ham Rong Mountain and Hang Da (Hau Thao) Village. The latter offers lovely views as it is much higher than the main road. The latter requires less physical efforts than the former.
The best time to visit Ta Van is in late September and early October when the rice is ripening boasting shiny golden colors.
