Sapa is an extremely popular tourist attraction in the far north of Vietnam. Sapa is 400km, 5-hour drivefrom Hanoi. Most visitors would spend 2-3 days in Sapa, some go trekking would spend 5-7 days in the region.

1/ Visiting Cat Cat Village and Cat Cat Waterfall (Black Hmong)
The visit involves 2-hour hiking down quite steep a mountain slope. The reward is beautiful mountain views and learning about Hmong life.
2/ Visiting Ta Phin Village (Red Dzao People)
Visiting Ta Phin Village which is 12km from Sapa Town. You’ll need to take a car ride or motorbike ride to get there. This is a lovely place to learn about a Red Dao community in Sapa. There is a chance to have a herbal bath with Red Dao traditional herbs in the village.
3/ Visiting the Silver Waterfall and the Gateway to Heaven
These sites are 12km from the town and you’ll need a car/motorbike ride to get there. The mountain views are sensational.
4/ Hiking to Ham Rong Mountain
Hiking to Ham Rong Mountain which is right in the town. The hike takes 2 hours and you’ll be in a lovely orchid garden plus wonderful bird eye’s views of the Fansipan and Sapa.
5/ Hiking in the Muong Hoa Valley
Hiking in the Muong Hoa Valley which is 8km from Sapa Town. You may like to hike all the way or take a car or motorbike ride to the valley, then hike amid the lovely rice terraces and ethnic villages. The trip takes 2-6 hours depending on individual interests.
6/ Homestay experience
There are several villages in Sapa that offer homestay service that the visitors stay with the hosts’ family and learn about their daily life and traditional culture. The conditions are much better nowadays than earlier, but still poor in Western standards. You’ll mostly get hot shower and Western toilets at the families. Some homestays offer beautiful views of the natural landscape around and some have proper soft beds and toilet facilities.
7/ Trekking in the villages
This is the most popular activity for adventurers to Sapa. There are several trekking trails in Sapa that Vietnamese tour operators offer treks for 1 day and up to 7 days. Communities who inhabit in the mountains far from the town have mostly in poor conditions of living.
8/ Mountain-climbing, mountain trekking
Trekking and climbing to the summit of Indochina – Mount Fansipan. The hard adventure takes from 1 day to 3 days.
9/ Mountain-biking
Mountain-biking is a hard adventure which requires experience in riding mountain bikes. The inclines are steep and good caution should be exercised always.
