07:00 A.M The tropical depression which forms in the East Vietnam Sea strengthened to be a typhoon with sustained winds of 62-74kph. The projected path is wnw covering 10-15kph. The path of Typhoon No. 2 is to be changed by another typhoon in Japan which is forecast to push the one in Vietnam further west.
13:00 hours: The typhoon, which is internationally coded Prapiroon (named after a Thai rain god), west of the Hoang Sa Islands (Paracel Islands) carrying sustained winds of 62-74kph. The projected path is wnw covering 10-15khp.

07:00 A.M Typhoon Prapiroon is in the area around the Hainan Island carrying sustained winds of 62-88kph. The projected path is nw covering 10-15khp.
10:00 A.M Typhoon Prapiroon is in the area east of the Gulf of Tonkin carrying sustained winds of 75-102kph. The projected path is nw covering 10-15khp.
12:00 hours Boat cruises on the Halong Bay and the Lan Ha Bay are halted due to possible impact by Typhoon Prapiroon.
15:00 hours: Typhoon Prapiroon is 100km east of the Bach Long Vy Island (Hai Phong Province, Vietnam) with sustained winds of 89-102khp. The projected path is nw covering 10khp. The typhoon is expected to make landfall in between Quang Ninh Province and Hai Phong City in later morning of 23-July-2024.

13:00 hours The tropical depression has weakened further to be an air trough with sustained winds of less than 39kph in Lang Son Province and Quang Ninh Province.
