Travel Guide to the Nam Dam Village in Ha Giang
The population in the village is the ethnic Dao People (Long-tunic Dao, Dao Ao Dai, Dao Cham). The local Dao live in houses with walls built of pounded earth which are 30-50cm thick. The thick walls keep the temperatures stable inside the house.
What to see, things to do
1/ Trekking in the valley
There are several trails in the valleys with idyllic scenery of corn fields and rice terraces. It is also a nice experience to trek to nearby villages.
2/ Nai Waterfall
The waterfall is on the edge of the village. To get here you will have to trek through a wood.
3/ Herbal bath
The Dao has long been known for their herbal bath which is said to be good for your health, especially after a long day on the move.
Where to stay
There are a few homestay with basic facilities, some have private rooms with en-suite toilet. The landscape is very bucolic!
How to get there
The Nam Dam Village is 7km southwest of Tam Son Town and 8km from the Quan Ba Heaven Gate. To get to the village, we follow Route 4C past Tam Son Town and turn right into a small road after the Twin Mountains. It is a scenic road with terraces and corn fields all the way.
The Nam Dam Village is 50km north of Ha Giang City.
