On 31July2012, the Vietnamese Government passed a resolution approving the draft treaty between Vietnam and Chile on waiving visas for holders of valid Chilean passports when entering Vietnam.
Currently, Chile along with Latin American Countries is a new market for Vietnam tourism industry and there are no direct flights between Vietnam and these countries. To travel to Vietnam from South America, the travelers can take flights by Singapore Airlines, Qatar and Emirates.

As of this writing, Vietnam has waived visas for travelers holding valid passports of Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia whose stay in Vietnam won't exceed 30 days; the Philippines whose stay won't exceed 21 days Brunei whose stay won't exceed 14 days. Travelers holding valid passports of Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Russia and Finland, whose stay in Vietnam won't exceed 15 days, are also exempt from Vietnam visas.
