Mui Ne, a little cape town of Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province is 200km from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), possesses fine sand beaches and luxury resorts nestled in evergreen palm forests.
From the Phu Hai River in Phan Thiet City, the coastline goes from west to east for 18-20km and then north to south for 5-6km to the tip of Cape Mui Ne, then runs northeastward all the way to Khanh Hoa Province.
Mui Ne Travel Guide, Tourist Attractions in Mui Ne
Mui Ne Town is a peninsula 12km northeast of Phan Thiet City center. There's a dozen kilometer stretch of sand that runs along the waterfront of Mui Ne, which is a paradise for beach holidays.
To the north of Mui Ne, there's a hundred or so kilometers of sand dunes and deserts and turquoise blue sea water that are heaven for those who look for getaway beach holidays and desert safaris.
A vacation to Mui Ne can take from a few days to a few months! It's recommended to take a full day safari into the desert to the north of Mui Ne, in Hoa Thang Commune of Bac Binh District (Binh Thuan Province), and a morning tour to catch sunrise over the fishing village. You can visit the White Sand Dune (Bau Trang) in the morning and cycle through the nearby countryside in the afternoon. There are fish-sauce villages where you can also learn how this amazing dipping sauce of Vietnam is made. Mui Ne Market and the fishing harbor are not to be missed for certain!

1/ Mui Ne Beach
The strip of sandy beach which stretches from Phu Hai (Phan Thiet City) to the tip of Cape Mui Ne is 20km and there are several mid range, boutique and luxury hotels and resorts on the beach.
2/ Mui Ne Fishing Village
The village is further to the east of Mui Ne, right at the curve of the coastline, with live activities in the early morning or in the afternoon. At the village, you’ll get photos of the peaceful life at the village with boats in the Mui Ne Cove waiting to set out at night and villagers fixing boats and nets for the coming trip. The market is 16km east of Phu Hai (eastern edge of Phan Thiet City).
3/ Mui Ne Market
The market is a good spot of learning about local life. There is quite a lot of dry seafood for Vietnamese tourists to buy as souvenirs on their trips to Mui Ne. The market is 16km east of Phu Hai (eastern edge of Phan Thiet City).
4/ Red Sand Dune
The Red Sand Dune is also further to the east of Mui Ne where you can go sand-skating/sandboarding and get amazing photos. The sand dune is 16km east of Phu Hai (eastern edge of Phan Thiet City).
5/ Poshanu (Po Sah Inu) Cham Tower
The Cham Tower is good spot for learning about the Champa Kingdom. The tower is 2.5km west of Phu Hai Center, in between Phu Hai and the Phu Hai River.
Accommodation, Where to Stay
Tourist infrastructure and luxury properties are available at Mui Ne only, while much of the rest of the coastline of Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan Provinces is of deserted beaches.
Mui Ne has only one single road with the beach lined with hotels and resorts on the one side and with hotels, restaurants, cafes, shops… on the other. On the beach-side, there are beach hotels and beach resorts which range from mid range to luxury.
On the other side of the road, you can find mostly family-run hotels, homestays… which offer cheaper rates.
How to get there
Mui Ne is a ward of Phan Thiet City and the little place is 12km from the center of Phan Thiet. And Phan Thiet is 200km from Saigon via a good road system: Route 1A and expressway. There is also a luxury train service commuting Saigon Ho Chi Minh City and Phan Thiet City.
By road
- The expressways (200km): Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh-Dau Giay & Dau Giay-Phan Thiet, then 1A.
The travel time between Ho Chi Minh City and Mui Ne via this route takes from 2.5 hours to less than 3 hours
- Route 1A (215km): This route takes 5-6 hours.
By rail
There are several trains between Saigon Train Station (Ho Chi Minh City) and Phan Thiet Train Station. The journey by train takes 4 hours. The road from from Phan Thiet Train Station to Mui Ne is 20km and there are shuttle buses on this route.
How to get around
You can go cycling along the ocean-front road which is just beautiful once you come out of the residential area. Hiring scooters or motorbikes allow you to reach farther spots like to desert, White Sand Dune… Taking a desert safari in jeep is also an option at Mui Ne.
