Yen Bai Province is located in the middle of the Northwest of Vietnam. The province is mostly visited by adventure travelers. One of the tourist highlights of Yen Bai is the Ta Xua Mountain, 2,865m above sea level, one of the 10th highest mountain peaks in Vietnam.
Travel Guide to Mount Ta Xua, Yen Bai
Ta Xua Peaks belong to a mountain range of the same name stretching from Tram Tau (Yen Bai Province) to Bac Yen (Son La Province). The unique thing of Ta Xua is that it offers the adventure travelers a wild wild mossy forest which is more like in a fairy tale than real.
Ta Xua Mountain - A view on the trek
A trekking trip to Ta Xua takes 3 days or 5 days from Hanoi and the grade of difficulty is hard adventure. The tricky point on the trek is called the Dinosaur’s Backbone which is a vertically stiff mountain cliff that there is only one tiny tree to lean on to get further to the other side that every trekker has to pass. There is a cable railing now that makes it less fatally dangerous but good efforts are required still!
