Air Astana Flies Kazakhstan - Ho Chi Minh City

1Mar2013 Air Astana officially announced starting flights between Almaty (Kazakhstan) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). These flights are on every Wednesday and Friday using Boeing 757 with 150 Economy Class seats and 16 Business Class seats. The flight from Almaty to Ho Chi Minh City transits via Bangkok (Thailand) which takes 9 hours and the return flight from Ho Chi Minh City is a direct one taking 7 hours.

Bangkok Airways Flies Bangkok - Cam Ranh Nha Trang
Bangkok Airways has announced that it starts direct flights between Bangkok (Thailand) - Cam Ranh Nha Trang (Vietnam) from 25January2019. There will be 4 return flights per week on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Sunday with Airbus 319 Aircraft.

Cambodia Angkor Air Begins Phnom Penh - Hanoi Flights

6Jan2013 Cambodia Angkor Air begins its first flight between Phnom Penh (Cambodia) and Hanoi (Vietnam). Airbus 321 aircrafts are to be used for these flights. This is the only daily flight between the two capital cities of Cambodia and Vietnam.
Earlier, Cambodia Angkor Air started its first flights between Phnom Penh and Bangkok (Thailand) on 30Nov2012. On this route, the air firm uses ATR72 with 67 seats.
Cambodia Angkor Air, which started its operation in July 2009, is a joint-venture between Cambodia Government (51%) and Vietnam Airlines (49%). At the beginning, the airline only operated flights within Cambodia (Phnom Penh - Siem Reap, Siem Reap - Sihanouville), between Cambodia - Laos, and between Cambodia - Vietnam. Etihad Airways Ho Chi Minh City Flights

2Oct2013 Etihad Airways officially begins daily direct flights between Abu Dhabi (UAE) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). All flights are with Airbus 330-200 with 22 Business Class seats and 240 Economy Class seats. The flight departs Abu Dhabi at 0830 A.M, the return flight departs Ho Chi Minh City at 2030 P.M. The flight time is 7 hours 30 minutes. These flights help to faciliate air travel between Vietnam and the Middle East as well as between Vietnam and Europe.

Finnair to Offer Seasonal Direct Flights to Hanoi

Finnair has announced its plan to begin seasonal direct flights to Hanoi from Helsinki in 2013 summer. The airline plans 3 flights per week from 14June2013 to 27October2013. With these direct flights, it takes only 5 hours to get to Europe from Vietnam. Earlier, Finnair had established its representative offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).

Jetstar Pacific Flies Ho Chi Minh City - Bangkok

From 10Dec2014 Jetstar Pacific starts daily flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok. From Ho Chi Minh City, flight BL661 departs at 13:05; the return flight BL662 departs Bangkok at 15:20. All flights are with Airbus320 aircraft accommodating 180 Economy Class seats.
The air firm is also starting flights between Hanoi - Bangkok from 29Mar2015.

Phu Quoc International Airport To Be Open

The new international airport on Phu Quoc Island in southern Vietnam is to be open in December 2012. Construction work started in November 2008 and completed in December 2012 with a runway of 3,000m in length and 45m in width. The second runway of 3000mx25m is to be constructed in 2020.

Saigon Tan Son Nhat Airport Runway Closed

According to Vietnam Aviation Authority, one of the two runways at Saigon Tan Son Nhat Airport is to be closed for maintenance from 25February2013. The maintenance time is estimated to take 8 months. Because there will be only one runway in operation, flight schedules are to be adjusted accordingly.

Tan Son Nhat Airport Repaired Runway Open Again

Reparation of one of the two runways at Ho Chi Minh City Tan Son Nhat Airport has been completed and the runway has been ready for flights again from 2July2013. Saigon Tan Son Nhat Airport has two runways built by the Americans in 1965-1967 for military aircrafts. The runways were upgraded and renewed in 1992 and 2002 to accommodate the busy flight schedules and different commercial aircrafts. The closure of the runway caused a lot of shuffles in the domestic flights in Vietnam, as Tan Son Nhat is the busiest airport in the country.

VietJetAir Begins Hanoi - Bangkok Flights

From Dec 2012, Vietnam Airlines is to begin direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and Jakarta (Indonesia). Initially, the direct flights are on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The new flights are to meet the increasing demand for business and leisure travel between Vietnam and Indonesia. The route is currently operated by AirAsia only and the tickets are often booked out.
