20-April-2019 The heat strike continues and temperatures remain record-high in the North and in the Central Region north of the Hai Van Pass (from Thanh Hoa to Hue). The highest temperatures are found in the Northwest Vietnam and North of the Central Region. In the south of Vietnam, the temperatures get slightly better but remain at high levels (above 35-36oC). The provinces in the Central Region south of the Hai Van Pass (from Da Nang to Binh Thuan) have a sunny day with temperatures below 35oC. The Central Highlands have a sunny day with pleasant temperatures (below 34oC).
1/The Northeast of Vietnam (Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen): bright sun, 19-35oC. Cao Bang is sunny, 23-36oC. Dong Van Pleau (Ha Giang) is sunny, 18-28oC.
The Northwest of Vietnam (Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Lao Cai): bright sun; 24-37oC. Lao Cai is sunny and hot, 24-39C. Sapa is sunny, 15-27oC. Mu Cang Chai is sunny, 19-30oC. Recorded highest temperatures: Hoa Binh 41.1oC.
Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau: bright sunshine and hot, 24-39oC. Moc Chau Plateau is sunny, 25-30oC. Recorded highest temperatures: Muong La (Son La) 42oC, Phu Yen (Son La) 41.7oC.
The lowlands (Halong Bay, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh) are sunny, 26-38oC.
2/North of the Central Region (Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh) are sunny and hot, 28-38oC. Recorded highest temperatures: Con Cuong (Nghe An) 42oC, Quy Chau (Nghe An) 41.3oC, Tuong Duong(Nghe An) 42oC, Tay Hieu (Nghe An) 42.2oC, Do Luong (Nghe An) 41.5, Vinh 40.2oC, Huong Khe (Ha Tinh) 43.4oC.
3/The coastal areas in the Central Region of Vietnam (Central Coast of Vietnam including: Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan)
Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue: sunny and hot, 27-42oC. A very hot day across the provinces, hottest since beginning of 2019. Recorded highest temperatures: Tuyen Hoa (Quang Binh) 43oC, Dong Ha (Quang Tri) 40.3oC, Hue 40.6oC.
Da Nang, Hoi An: sunny, 27-38oC;
Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh (Quy Nhon Beach), Phu Yen (Tuy Hoa Beach): sunny, 24-34oC.
Khanh Hoa (Nha Trang), Ninh Thuan (Ninh Chu Beach), Binh Thuan (Phan Thiet Beach, Mui Ne Beach): sunny, 27-33oC.
4/The Central Highlands (Kon Tum, Gia Lai - Pleiku, Dak Lak - Buon Ma Thuot, Lam Dong) sunshine with pleasant temperatures most of the day, rains all over in late afternoon and evening, 22-33oC. Da Lat is rainy, 17-24oC. It is torrential rain in Da Lat accompanied by hailstones that cause heavy damage to local agriculture. Many residential ares in Da Lat are temporarily flooded.
5/The South of Vietnam (Vung Tau, Saigon, Mekong Delta) is sunny mostly, patchy rains in the Mekong Delta, 27-36oC.
Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc: patchy rains, 27-36oC.
Con Dao Islands are sunny, 28-31oC; Phu Quoc Island is sunny, 28-31oC.
