02January2019 The tropical depression which had formed in the Philippines and entered the East Vietnam Sea has strengthened to be a tropical storm, the 1st Typhoon in Vietnam in 2019 (Pabuk) with sustained winds of 60-75kph.
The Typhoon is 360km southeast of Con Dao Islands, 460km southeast of the mainland of Vietnam. The projected path in the next 24 hours is wnw. Typhoon 1 has little chance to hit mainland Vietnam though it may cause excessive rains in the South of Vietnam.
Typhoon No.1 (Pabuk) starts causing heavy rains in the Mekong Delta in southern Vietnam from 2January2019.
03January2019 Typhoon Pabuk is 240km south of Cape Ca Mau carrying sustained winds of 60-90kph. The projected path is wnw. Though the typhoon does not make landfall in Vietnam its impact include heavy rains in the Mekong Delta and the east of southern Vietnam.
The northerly monsoon still causes rains from Ha Tinh to Binh Thuan.
04January2019 04:00 A.M Typhoon Pabuk is 260km southwest of Cape Ca Mau carrying sustained winds of 75-90kph. The projected path in the next 24 hours is wnw. The typhoon is expected to make landfall in southern Thailand late 4th early 5th of January, 2019. There have been heavy rains in the South of Vietnam since the early hours. Strong winds and gusts of winds cause damage to communities in Ca Mau Province.
In the late hours of 04January2019, Typhoon Pabuk has made landfall in southern Thailand and longer has impact on Vietnam. This is the latest news of the typhoon.
