Overview
The lake is a cluster of 36 lakes interconnected through underground caves. The water has an emerald color. The biggest lake is 2,000m in length and 500m in width.
The limestone caves, underwater caves and underground caves remain a mystery for now. The region is part of Cao Bang Geopark and while initial exploration has revealed that the Nguom Ngao Cave is 2km in length. The caves or system of caves which connect the 36 lakes of the Thang Hen Lake have not yet been explored.
How to get there
The Thang Hen Lake is 27km northeast of Cao Bang City. From Cao Bang, follow Route 3 for 20km to the Ma Phuc Mass, then head straight onto provincial route 205 for 5km and turn left at the Primary School of Quoc Toan Commune, travel for nearly 4km further to the Thang Hen Lake which is at the end of the route.
