Ben Tre is a province in the Mekong Delta in southern Vietnam. The provincial capital of Ben Tre is Ben Tre City, 90km south of Ho Chi Minh City.
Except for the two islands on the Mekong River which are close to My Tho – Tien Giang, Ben Tre is off the tourist track! Things to do in Ben Tre
1/ Boat trips on the Mekong River to visit amazing islands
Con Phung Island is a green island on the Mekong River just close to My Tho of Tien Giang Province.
Con Quy Island is close to the east of Con Phung.
Con Phu Da Island is in Vinh Binh Commune, Cho Lach District.
2/ Picking seasonal fruits in exuberant and lush green orchards
There are several orchards in Ben Tre Province thanks to the terrain dissected by tributaries the Mekong River and the soil is alluvial. Cho Lach and Tan Phu (Chau Thanh District) are where to find the most fertile soil and hence most exuberant orchards. These two locations are on different islands in Ben Tre Province.
3/ Bird-watching at Vam Ho Bird Sanctuary
The bird sanctuary is in Tan My Commune, Ba Tri District by the Ba Lai River (a branch of the Tien River). It is close to river estuary and brackish water here that the environment is habitat for several flora species and bird species.
4/ Tasting fresh seafood at Con Bung Beach
Cong Bung Beach is in Thanh Hai Commune, Thanh Phu District, 80km southeast of Ben Tre City. The beach has black sand and the water is not so clear but seafood is fresh and for very cheap prices.
5/ Cycling amid coconut forests, orchards, handicraft villages
There are flower village, sedge sleeping mat village, candy workshops,… on the bike routes that will make your experience of Ben Tre like no others!
